Each lesson comes with the appropriate verbal instructions for the levels of beginners, intermediate and advanced.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I teach music notations, and show the students how to carry out finger exercises and techniques to allow different kinds of music to be played. Your sight reading skills, identification of chords and recognition of pitch are all tested and will improve during the lessons.

 

By doing piano lessons you will partake in the simplest and by far the most convenient way to learn to play the piano as you study in the comfort of your own home

Musical Aspect

 

Minutes

Finger exercises / Scales / Arpeggios / Broken Chords:

Helps to develop technique, finger exercises, scales, arpeggios and broken chords. Provides a useful ‘warm up’ for the fingers.

Sight-reading:

Involves sight-reading of something that is challenging but also within ability to play. Playing through the piece once or twice only, paying close attention to dynamics, expression, and the mood and style of the piece as well as the accuracy of the notes and rhythm.

Pieces:

During this part, time will be divided equally between two or three pieces from different styles or periods. Working on three pieces spending approximately 12 - 14 minutes on each and if working on two pieces then spending about 20 minutes on each. Always starting with the piece that needs most work.

Aural work:

Looking at the pieces on which actually practising, or sight-reading. Trying to sing part of a phrase, clapping the rhythm of a phrase and identifying some of the musical features present.
